Gov. Evers Signs Bipartisan Bill to Reduce Reckless Driving
PRESS RELEASE
MADISON — Governor Tony Evers has officially enacted Assembly Bill 394, which is now designated as 2023 Wisconsin Act 86. This bipartisan measure aims to address the issue of reckless driving and improve road safety by expanding access to driver education programs. Funded by the $6 million earmarked in the governor’s biennial budget for 2023-25, this grant initiative reinforces Governor Evers' dedication to enhancing road safety and addressing the increasing problem of reckless driving in Wisconsin.
Pursuant to the provisions of Wisconsin Act 86 of 2023, a driver education grant program has been instituted under the auspices of the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) with the intent of alleviating the financial burdens associated with driver education courses for eligible low-income students. This initiative aims to eradicate the financial obstacles faced by individuals who lack the means to afford such educational programs.
