Three 18-year-old Elkhorn, Wisconsin, boys face one count each of sexual assault of a child under the age of 16 years. The incident, which occurred last December, centers on a then-14-year-old girl who alleges each of the boys engaged her in sexual acts in the basement of a house in which she believed one of the suspects lived.
Separate criminal complaints have been filed for each of the boys involved in the case. Allegedly, all three of the complaints contain admissions from the young men on at least a portion of the victim’s allegations, including admitting they were in the basement with the girl. Apparently, one boy has admitted to performing sex acts with the girl. Another of the boys allegedly claimed the girl wanted to have oral sex with him, but he is unsure if the sex act actually occurred. The third young man also supposedly admitted to having sex with the girl.
In an interesting twist, one of the criminal complaints allegedly contains contradictory statements made by the girl. She claimed one of the young men touched her breasts and then later told officials this young man did not touch her breasts. She also told officials that she was not wearing a shirt for a time, but that this same young man helped her put a shirt on.
News reports state that all three boys posted bonds of $10,000 each and were released from custody with instructions not to have any contact with the victim.
It’s especially difficult when all parties involved with a case of sexual misconduct or child sexual abuse are so young. What might be a clear cut case in sexual misconduct involving adults takes on a more complex depth with teenagers. As all sexual assault cases cause permanent damage to reputations, it’s crucial to acquire legal representation skilled at protecting your rights as soon as an arrest is made.
